Welcome to the Baldwin Combo Harpsichord Project page. Herein is a dramatic story of trauma, hope and eventual redemption; or how I rescued a rare vintage instrument from the tyranny of a 4-year-old whose evil plans were to destroy it before it could could ever be fully honored.
News December 4, 2007: The manual is here!
Finally the manual to the Baldwin Combo Harpsichord is available. Special thanks to Yves-Marie Rozé for actually scanning the manual and sending to me. You're awesome! I think having access to this document will help everyone who owns one keep it in good repair.
So, here it is: Original Baldwin Combo Harpsichord Manual. It's a PDF, 5.9 megs.
NOTE: DON'T RESELL IT! If I see it on eBay I'll email the bidders and tell them to get it here for free. I hate jerks who resell old manuals.
News July 4, 2007: Happy Independance Day fellow Americans!
I've added a forum. I keep getting emails that I can't answer. So I'm helping everyone help each other. If you get a wild urge sign up and post your thoughts there. As with the Harp I owned this site is a work in progress. But the forums are working thanks to the kind folks from the PHPBB group. Check them out here: Bladwin Harpsichord Forums! You can still email me with questions and I'll do my best to send you in the right direction.
Also, I bought the URL www.baldwinharpsichord.com. Sorry the site has jumped around so much. It needed a home so here it is. I hope the Baldwin peeps don't sue me! I'll setup the site to be more generic so that it's not just my harp on here. I've gotten emails from owners all over the world so I need to not be selfish with my project (which will still move along in time). Okay, carry on.
News: February 23, 2007. Before I begin I'd like to thank Squeezy Tunes for linking to my little project site. Thanks!
I'd also like to apologize for the long delay in getting this project underway. I recently bought a house, an old Traynor tube amp that needs a little work, I have a Rhodes restoration project, and have a band project, and yadda yadda, and it's nearly 2 a.m. right now... You see where I'm headed here (I wish I could).
Anyway, on with the show.
The images on this site are large so your patience will be required if you wish to fully envy my project.
Here's a quick background on how this all came about. I'm a classified ad whore, it's a habit borne of boredom. I don't have money for instruments so I really am a bottom feeder and one of those jerks who low-balls even cheap prices. As a result I rarely get the instruments I'm inquiring on. The Baldwin is one exception... Thus it begins!
